B.Sc Dialysis Technology is a 3-year undergraduate degree in paramedical sciences. This course is designed to train and produce graduates who are capable of understanding and assisting specialists in the different treatment processes.
During this course, students learn about the different medical concepts of the kidney, principles of dialysis, dialysis systems and machines, blood chemistries, etc. The students are trained to use various machines for dialysis to help in the treatment of patients during this course.
The course is designed to mold students to administer hemodialysis treatments for patients with renal failure, under the governance of a nurse or physician. After course can get jobs at top hospitals, and clinics as Clinical Coordinators, Medical technicians, Dialysis technicians, lecturers, etc.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Sc Dialysis Technology
1. 10+2 Science stream passed (with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects) from a recognized board. Minimum aggregate marks required (if criteria exists) is generally around 45-55% marks.
2. The candidate should have passed H.S.C / (+2) or equivalent qualification with Biology/Botany and Zoology with minimum marks.
3. Some universities offer admissions on the basis of the marks obtained in an entrance test, therefore, applicants are required to sit for the specified exam, conducted by the university of their choice.
Admission Process
1. Most institutes follow the merit-based admission process. Marks scored by students in board examinations and/or relevant entrance tests (state-wise or institute-wise) are taken into account. Seats are allotted to deserving candidates on the basis of merit marks.
2. Nearly all institutions provide admission through an entrance exam. Candidates must have the exam rank. Some institutions take their own admission entrance whereas others give admission through a national-level examination.
Career after B.Sc Dialysis Technology
After completing the course, dialysis technicians may work under the supervision of specialized Doctors and Nurses at hospitals or healthcare setups offering dialysis treatment. Hospital gives the most jobs facilities for the Renal Dialysis Technology students. In the hospital, they are in the position of Dialysis Therapist, Nephrologist, Clinical Coordinator, Dialysis Technician, Medical Technician, etc.
Dialysis technology graduates may find a job at hospitals (Government or private), clinics or healthcare setups offering dialysis treatment. Completing relevant M.Sc. courses will help one take on a teaching job (lecturer or instructor) at institutes offering dialysis technology education or patient education programs.
Technical jobs are also available in front of dialysis technology graduates. Dialysis equipment repair and maintenance tasks can be carried out by them. They may also find a job at firms manufacturing and marketing dialysis equipment.
Job Profile |
Job Description |
Dialysis Technician |
Dialysis technicians are also known as Hemodialysis technicians, working together with a doctor or nurse to provide patient care to people with permanent kidney failure (end-stage renal disease) |
Nephrologist |
A nephrologist is a professional medical doctor who specializes in kidney care and treating diseases of the kidneys. They are educated in internal medicine and then undergo more training to specialize in treating patients with kidney diseases. |
Dialysis Therapist |
Dialysis Technicians are medical professionals trained in the operation of a dialysis machine. Their primary duties include monitoring patients undergoing dialysis treatment and ensuring usage of the machine is safe and secure and adjusting patient fluid removal rates as required. |
Dialysis Assistant |
Dialysis Assistant is responsible for operating dialysis machines, which are designed to filter waste, excess water, and salt from a person's body. These elements in the blood cause kidneys to fail and become damaged. Dialysis assistants help patients before, during, and after dialysis treatments along with the technician. |
Medical Laboratory Assistant |
Laboratory Assistants work with scientists and researchers, assisting during lab tests and various experiments. They set up and prepare the experiments, and when the tests are completed they clean and maintain the lab for further uses. |
Medical technicians |
Medical technicians collect blood and other samples from the patient for the purpose of analyzing them for disease and other issues. They use sophisticated equipment and often work in several areas of a clinical lab. |
